HINTON — Summertime is wrapping up but it’s not too late to celebrate everything that makes the season great.

The Hinton Growth Organization is wrapping up all the final details of its second annual Hinton Summer Fest, Aug. 12-14.

“We wanted to create a sense of community,” Madison Zeller, Hinton Growth Organization member said of the idea behind the event. “Summer Fest offers something for all ages and interests and we are hopeful that Summer Fest will continue for generations and be something our community looks forward to annually.”

The three day event will kickoff at 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 12 with a four-person scramble golf tournament at Deer Run Golf Course.

At 9 p.m., the movie “Sing 2” will be shown at the Hinton City Park. In case of inclement weather the showing will take place at the Hinton Community Center.

The events will pick up again bright and early on Saturday, Aug. 13 with the 5K Walk/Run at the Hillview Recreation Area at 8 a.m.

Frontage Road will come alive beginning at noon with many activities including: a craft/vendor fair, a Tri-State Cruisers Car Show, a Kickball Tournament, a KidZone in the EndZone with games, inflatables and more. The Loaded food truck will be on hand to serve up attendees.

Zeller said currently there are 15 vendors signed up for the craft/vendor fair offering selections from Scentsy, handmade jewelry, clothing, custom design woodworking, crystals and stones, homemade bath/show products, and more.

A bags tournament will begin at 2 p.m. at the Junkyard Pub & Grub, and a street dance featuring Missouri Blend at the Silver Dollar Bar will begin at 7:30 p.m. Señor Taco will be on hand as well serving Mexican favorites out of their food truck.

The evening will be capped off at 11 p.m. with a fireworks finale at the Hinton City Park.

The festivities will wrap on Sunday, Aug. 14 at 10:30 a.m. with an outdoor Sunday service followed by a freewill donation barbecue meal at Hinton United Methodist Church. Attendees are asked to bring their lawn chairs and blankets.

Registrations for many of the events remains open and those interested in learning more are asked to visit, hintongrowth.org.

Hinton Growth Organization was established in 2019 with the primary goal to hold events in the community.

“We are proud of past events such as our annual Holiday Homes Tour, Santa parade, Reverse Trick or Treating, St. Patrick’s Day celebration, Get Egged event, and of course Summer Fest,” Zeller shared. “As we grew we wanted to give back to our community. This year we handed out our first scholarship an are continually brainstorming more ideas to give back. We officially became a 501c3 this year and are very proud of that accomplishment.”

Zeller said they are still seeking volunteers for the KidZone and other events. Those interested are asked to e-mail, hintongrowthorg@gmail.com. Volunteers receive a free t-shirt and free attendance at an event of their choosing.

“From Friday to Sunday, Summer Fest is packed with fun events for the whole family,” Zeller said. “Summer Fest is special to all of us because we worked hard to ensure that no matter your age or your interest there will be something for you.”

“Summer Fest is something we hope our children look forward to attending even after they are grown and have families of their own and are proud that their moms played a part in initiating this Hinton tradition,” Zeller concluded.
