Tritz advances to state golf for RSM
NEWELL ó Remsen St. Maryís senior Sidney Tritz has advanced to the Class 1A state golf tournament for the second time as she will bookend her career with trips to state. Tritz was the overall medalist at the regional final meet held at the Newell Golf Course on Wednesday.
Tritz shot an 86 across the 18 holes with splits of 42 on the first nine and 44 on the second set of nine. She was three strokes under the next-best score on the day.
The RSM team finished fourth with a 411 total. Host Newell-Fonda had the top overall score with a 370 and Central Lyon took second place with a 385 for the other team qualifying spot.
Isabella Arens shot a 101 for the second score for the Hawks. She finished with a 49 on the first nine and a 52 on the second nine.
A pair of 112 tallies completed the team score. Peyton Frederes got hers with a pair of 56 nine-hole scores while Zajara Galles shot a 55 on the first nine and a 57 on the second nine.
Olivia Pottebaum finished with a 114 on splits of 55 and 59 while Maci Gravenish ended with a 119 on splits of 63 and 56 for the teamís non-counting scores.
Kingsley-Piersonís Abby Thompson finished with a 106 to wrap up her junior season.
Tritz will compete at the American Legion Golf Course in Marshalltown on May 26-27 for the Class 1A state tournament.
