Remsen St. Mary’s runs at Sioux Central track meet
SIOUX RAPIDS — The Remsen St. Mary’s track athletes got one final chance to compete before the state qualifying meet as they went to Sioux Central on Monday.
Claire Schroeder earned a win in the 100 meter hurdles as she had the top time of 15.73 seconds. Schroeder added a second place time in the 100 meter dash as she finished in 13.05, a tenth of a second behind South O’Brien’s Willa Sickelka. Carmindee Ricke added a fourth place finish out of 20 competitors in the event with a time of 13.68.
Whitney Jensen placed third in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:05.56 which was a little over two seconds behind the winning time.
The best relay finish for the Hawks was in the shuttle hurdle event as Halle Galles, Mya Bunkers, Jensen and Schroeder ended in a time of 1:10.10, a little over a second better than the second place time.
Brody Schorg led the RSM boys with a win in the 800 meter run. His time of 2:08.79 was over two seconds faster than the next-best time in the 18 runner field.
Ryan Willman added a pair of sixth place finishes in the 100 and 200 meter dashes.
The team competed in just one relay, the sprint medley, where they were fourth out of nine teams in a time of 1:43.18. Brenden Fisch, Brady Koenck, Willman and Schorg were the four members of the relay.
