MMCRU’s Veterans Day Program, which took place on Thursday morning, November 11, honored local veterans by giving thanks. The morning started with a breakfast enjoyed by veterans before the program in the gymnasium. To start the program, the posting of the colors was done by the VFW & American Legion members. The MMCRU Band under the direction of Miss Davis performed the “Star Spangled Banner”. Students explained what the POW/MIA table was and read the poem “A Letter to a Soldier” by Rachel Benjamin. Veterans were recognized when their name was read, and the MMCRU Choir under the direction of Miss DeVos, sang “An American Celebration”. Guest speaker for the program was Dave Nicks. Father Eugene Murray read the Benediction. VFW & American Legion members folded the flag, retrieved the colors, performed the 21 gun salute and played “Taps”. The MMCRU Student Council students ran the program.
