Election results are in across the county

PLYMOUTH CO. — A total of 2,691 ballots, representing 14.92 percent of registered voters, were cast in the Nov. 2 city/school election in Plymouth County on Nov. 2, according to the Plymouth County Auditor’s office.

There are 18,042 registered voters in the county.

The unofficial results will be canvassed by the Plymouth County Board of Supervisors at their Nov. 9 meeting.

The results are from Remsen and Oyens in the county and are reported as follows:

• Remsen

City Council At-Large (Vote for 3) — Jeff Cluck, 135 votes; Josh Hill, 133 votes; Ann Cole-Nelson, 122 votes; Michael A. Slota, 103 votes; 3 write-in votes.

The City of Remsen also had a Public Measure RF on the ballot. There were a total of 156 yes votes, for 84.32 percent and 29 no votes for 15.68 percent.

That measure asked voters to reduce the number of Remsen Public Library Board of Trustee members from nine to five, consisting of four resident members and one non-resident member.

• Oyens

Mayor — Donna Poulsen, 17 votes; 2 write-ins.

City Council At-Large (Vote for 3) — Kathy Meis, 15 votes; Steve Swalve, 18 votes; 15 write-ins.

• Remsen-Union School District

Director At-Large (Vote for 3) — Talon Penning, 199 votes; Jason Steven Loutsch, 167 votes; Eric Harpenau, 153 votes; Chris Poeckes, 119 votes; 4 write-in votes.

Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn School District

Director At-Large (Vote for 2) Luke Olson, 0 votes; Belinda Leavitt, 0 votes; 3 write-in votes.

• Western Iowa Tech Community College

Director District 1 — Neal Adler, 1,474 votes; 8 write-in votes.

Director to Fill a Vacancy District 7 — no candidate filed; 31 write-in votes.

Director District 8 — Russell Wray, 154 votes.
