After canceling the event in 2020 due to COVID-19, the community of Remsen will be celebrating their 47th annual Remsen Oktoberfest Celebration on Sat., October 30, 2021.

Over 70 vendors will be displaying their goods for the Oktoberfest Fall Frenzy Craft/Retail Vendor Event in both gyms at the MMCRU Middle School in Remsen from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Breakfast and lunch will also be available.

The Luxembourg Heritage Society will be featuring family histories at the Remsen Heritage Museum from 9 a.m. - 12 noon and then at St. Mary's gym from 3 - 8 p.m.

The Children's Bavarian Costume and Dance Contest will be held in St. Mary's gym, starting at 1:30 p.m. Youngsters will be judged on their Luxembourg attire, event participation and the chicken dance!

Live polka music will be featured in the St. Mary's gym all afternoon. "The Jim Busta Band" will take the stage from 2:30 – 5:30 p.m. and “The Jim Kucera Band” will play from 6 – 9 p.m.

The All You Can Eat Bavarian Feast will be served a little differently this year. The feast will be served in the St. Mary's High School cafeteria from 4 - 7 p.m., but not in the family style manner. It will be set-up as more of a buffet style, with people going through the line to pick out what food they would like and then taking a seat in the cafeteria. Delicious dishes on the menu will include some German/Luxembourg favorites such as: Luxembourg treipen, bratwurst, headcheese, German potato salad, German kraut and some American favorites which will include: roast beef, chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, dressing, cole slaw, rolls, milk and coffee.

Also new this year, if you can't make it to the feast in person, in town delivery will be available from 4 – 6 p.m., on orders placed by noon on Friday, October 29. Call 712-540-8471 to order.

Meal tickets will be available for purchase at the door beginning at 11:00 a.m., but tickets can also be purchased in advance at American Bank or Iowa State Bank.

We invite everyone to visit us on Sat., October 30, 2021, and share in the good times during Remsen's 47th Annual Oktoberfest!
