Oh, the places you’ll go: County graduates prepare to receive their diploma

PLYMOUTH CO. — Graduation ceremonies at Plymouth County high schools will take place on two weekends this year.

Plymouth County has a total of 382 graduates in the class of 2021.

Three schools (Akron-Westfield High School, Hinton Community High School, and Kingsley-Pierson High School) will hold commencement exercises Sunday, May 16.

Students from the other four Plymouth County high schools (Gehlen Catholic High School, Le Mars Community High School, Remsen St. Mary’s High School, and MMCRU High School) will hold graduation ceremonies on Sunday, May 23.

St. Mary’s High School, Remsen

Commencement ceremonies at St. Mary’s High School in Remsen will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, May 23, in the Gib Schroeder Memorial Gym.

Masks will be required for all attending.

Guest speaker is Kris Schiltz.

The class of 2021 has 19 seniors. The class valedictorian and salutatorian will be the students speakers, and will be announced May 21.

Baccalaureate Mass will be at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 19, at St. Mary’s Church in Remsen.

MMCRU High School

Commencement ceremonies for MMCRU will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, May 23, at the MMCRU High School Gym in Marcus.

Student speakers for the ceremony will be valedictorians Kristina Goth and Cade Pepper, and salutatorian Miller Staab.

There are 40 seniors in the class of 2021.

MMCRU 9-12 High School Principal Travis Sprague said, “We will be continuing to follow our normal school district COVID protocols but not limiting attendees.”
