Jays soar over Eagles in district semis

LE MARS — The Class 1A No. 4 ranked Gehlen Catholic boys basketball team topped Siouxland Christian by a 62-36 final score in district tournament action Thursday.

Carter DeRocher led the Jays with 25 points as he was 12-of-19 from the field. He added eight rebounds.

Keaten Bonderson and Zach Kraft added 15 points apiece for the Jays. The points were a season-high for Kraft who added eight rebounds. Bonderson led the team with five assists and three steals.

Siouxland Christian finishes the season with a 10-11 record.

Gehlen (22-1) advances to the district final where they will face Woodbury Central (14-9) at Bishop Heelan on Tuesday. The two teams met during the regular season where the Jays scored a season-high in points in an 84-57 final.
