Blackhawks avenge loss to West Sioux in district opener
HAWARDEN ó Just 11 days after losing to West Sioux in War Eagle Conference action, the Hinton boys basketball team avenged that loss in the Class 2A district opener on Monday by a 54-50 score. The Falcons won the regular season meeting by a 59-43 score.
The Blackhawks got off to a good start in the first half as they led 29-16 at halftime. West Sioux fought back into the game with a 22-11 third quarter and it remained close across the final eight minutes.
Tate Linton led the Blackhawks with 15 points and was second on the team with six rebounds.
Caleb Holmes was the teamís other double digit scorer with 13 points as he was a perfect 6-of-6 at the free-throw line. As a team, Hinton was 18-of-25 on free throws with eight different players making it to the foul line and scoring points there.
Landon Lovrien led the team with 11 rebounds, seven assists and seven blocks while scoring eight points.
West Sioux ends their season at 11-12. Hinton will take a 10-12 record into their district semifinal matchup with undefeated and top-ranked Boyden-Hull (21-0) on Thursday.
