SIOUX RAPIDS ó Sioux Central ran for over 250 yards on the ground as they came away with a 29-0 victory over Akron-Westfield in non-district football action Friday.

The Rebels had three players rush for at least 60 yards led by Teagan Pritchard who carried the ball 18 times for 112 yards and a touchdown which came on a 13-yard run. Jayden Harder added 72 yards on 24 carries while quarterback Jacob Saunders added 62 yards on eight rush attempts with a pair of touchdowns including one which covered 25 yards.

Saunders passed the ball just three times in the game, completing a pair of passes for over 20 yards including a 25-yard scoring pass to Trent Anderson.

The Westerners continued to have scoring woes, this time not putting any points on the board after scoring just one touchdown in each of their first two games. Itís the first time Akron-Westfield has been held scoreless in a game since a 26-0 loss to Woodbury Central in the 2014 season.

Turnovers continue to haunt the Westerners with a total of 12 through the teamís first three games of the season. Four of those giveaways happened in the teamís most recent game as Teagan Pritchard scooped up two loose footballs, Jaxon Moffitt landed on another fumble and Kaleb Scott intercepted a pass.

The vast majority of Akron-Westfieldís yards came through the air as the team rushed the ball for just 14 yards on nine attempts. Cade Walkingstick threw for 181 yards as he completed 16-of-28 passes. Dallas Smith was his top target, reeling in eight catches for 102 yards. Hunter Walkingstick added 43 yards on four receptions.

Defensively, Logan Smith led the way with 12.5 tackles. Levi Hemmelrick added 6.5 while Tanner Derochie ended with six for the Westerners.

Akron-Westfield (0-3) will travel to play at West Monona (1-2) on Friday.
