Lawrence ‘Larry’ Rolling

Lawrence “Larry” Rolling, 68, of Le Mars, died unexpectedly Sunday, March 12, 2023, at Floyd Valley Healthcare in Le Mars.

Lawrence John Rolling, the son of LeRoy and Maxine (Kilker) Rolling, was born on Nov. 2, 1954, in Le Mars. He grew up near Remsen and attended school in Remsen.

He was united in marriage to Le Ann Peters on April 24, 1976, at Christ Lutheran Church in Remsen. The couple lived their entire married lives in the Le Mars area.

Larry worked at the packing house in Le Mars for 18 years. After its closing, he worked various jobs in the area, including Life Skills Training Center, Advance Brands, and had a paper route. He then went to work for BoDean’s Baking Company in Le Mars until his retirement in May of 2022. Le Ann passed away on April 30, 2011.

Larry enjoyed bowling league at Sweet 16 Lanes in Le Mars and playing bingo at the Le Mars Eagle’s Club. He also enjoyed fishing. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his two sons: Josh (Erin) Rolling of Le Mars and Justin (Nicki) Rolling of Le Mars; his grandchildren and great-granddaughter: Austin Rolling (Skyler Rutledge) and their daughter, Rose, Taylor Rolling, Hudson Rolling, Oliver Rolling, and Theo Rolling; his siblings: Marilyn (Marvin) Maly of Onawa, Marie Benedix of Pierson, Russ (Pam) Rolling of Oyens, Jim Rolling of Glenwood, Kirk Rolling of Le Mars, and Glenn (Julie) Rolling of Le Mars; his-in-laws: Lyle (Deb) Schuetz of Remsen, Mark Sudtelgte of Remsen, Elizabeth Peters of Vernon, Texas, Donald (Jeannete) Peters of Benbrook, Texas, Deanna Peters of Tacoma, Washington, Bruce (Jill) Peters of Sloan, Barb (Walt) Hestand of Waverly, Tennessee, Tammy (Joseph) Jones of Urbana, Ohio, and Terry (Robin) Peters of Benbrook, Texas; his good friend, Roger Rolfes of Le Mars; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his father and mother-in-law, Leroy, and Janice Peters; his wife, Le Ann Rolling; his siblings: Jo Ann Sudtelgte, Janice Schuetz, and Robert Rolling; and his brother-in-law, Robert Benedix.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Friday, March 17, at All Saints Catholic Parish – St. James Church in Le Mars. The Rev. Bruce Lawler will celebrate Mass. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City. Visitation began at 3 p.m., Thursday, March 16, at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. The family will be present to greet friends at 5 p.m. There was a scriptural prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume from 9 a.m., until service time on Friday at the church.
