Vacura will reign as Plymouth County Pork Queen

LE MARS — The Plymouth County Pork Producers celebrated the pork industry at their annual banquet March 4 at the Le Mars Convention Center.
One of the highlights of the evening was the crowning of the 2023 Plymouth County Pork Queen and announcing Little Miss Pigtails.
The 2023 queen is Sarah Vacura, the daughter of Jason and Gina Vacura of Le Mars. She is a junior at Le Mars Community High School and is involved in FFA.
Calla Langel was crowned princess for 2023. She is the daughter of Nick Langel and Kari Frerichs. Langel is a senior at Le Mars Community High School and is involved in FFA and 4-H.
Two young ladies share the Little Miss Pigtails title. They are Emma Feller and Quinn Sheehan.
Feller is the daughter of Amanda and Brandon Feller of Le Mars. She is 7 years old and is a first grade student at Le Mars Community School.
Sheehan is the daughter of Dan and Lori Sheehan of Remsen. She is 6 years old, and is a kindergarten student at Remsen St. Mary’s School.
Also recognized at the banquet were Iowa Master Pork Producer Award winners Chris and Breeann Bohnenkamp of Remsen, and the local Hog Wild Award winner Fred Zenk.
The board of directors includes, Andy Schroeder, president; Chris Bohnenkamp, incoming president; Ben Johnson, treasurer; Simon Kern, incoming treasurer; Corey Wagner, secretary; Joe Rotta, Grll Maestro; Matt Schnepf, membership; Linda Schroeder, District 1IPPA Director; Chad Harpenau, Joe Kessenich, Harold Lee, Jim Hitchler, Bill Tentinger, Fred Zenk, Dan Sheehan, Sterling Meyer, Dean Schroeder and Colin Schroeder.
The evening concluded with entertainment by pianist Ben Nuelle.
