Tractor program set for March 12
LE MARS — “Tractors and More” will be the theme of a National Ag Month program that the Plymouth County Historical Museum will present at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 12, in the Study Hall.
Featured will be the toy tractor collection given to the museum by the Dennis Lundgren estate in January 2021. Albert Schultz of the Le Mars Toy Store will speak about the collection. Some of the toy tractors will be displayed in the Study Hall’s showcases.
Also in the spotlight will be the Loutsch family of Oyens describing their traditional parade of tractors on the Fourth of July. Their parents, Bill and Rosie Loutsch, had a large collection of working farm tractors, which they liked to share with the public. The parade rolls through Oyens at noon each year on the Fourth.
Free refreshments will wrap up the afternoon. All five floors of the museum will be open for touring.
This spring, the Le Mars Area Chamber Ag Committee, headed by Janelle Johnson, will install a large ag display in the museum’s Study Hall. This exhibit, featuring photos from around the county showing “Women in Agriculture,” was exhibited in the Round Barn during the 2022 Plymouth County Fair.
