Ann Galles

Ann M. Galles, 74, of Remsen, died Monday, Feb. 27, 2023, at Orange City Area Health System in Orange City.
Ann was born May 20, 1948, in Le Mars, the daughter of Henry and Mildred (Nilles) Harpenau. She attended school in Remsen and graduated from Remsen St. Mary’s High School in 1966. After graduation she worked at K-Products in Orange City, and Celebrity Apparel and American Bank, both in Remsen.
On Nov. 4, 1967, she married Larry Galles at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen, officiated by Father Leo Harpenau.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, church guild and Catholic Order of Foresters.
She will be deeply missed by her husband Larry, of Remsen; her children, Tom (Adrienne) Galles of Remsen, and Lisa (Kris) Zbylut of Papillion, Nebraska; nine grandchildren; her sisters, Rosemary Schilmoeller of Granville, Carol Harpenau (Linda Leonard) of Omaha, Nebraska; her in-laws, Veronica Harpenau, Ervin Ahlers, and Pauline Harpenau, all of Remsen, Jim Gergeni of Le Mars, Roger (Donna) Galles, Jim (LaVonne) Galles, Pete (LaVonne) Galles, and Ann (Jerry) Bohnenkamp, all of Remsen; sister-in-law; Mary (Denny) Hansen of Stacy, Minnesota, and many nieces and nephews.
Ann will be welcomed home into heaven with open arms by her two children, Russ Galles and Amy Galles; her parents, Henry and Mildred Harpenau; in-law parents, Arnold and Coletta Galles; sister-in-law, Betty Galles; her sister, Jeanette Harpenau in infancy; siblings, and in-law’s: Cloette and Daryl Schroeder, Jim and Mary Lea Harpenau, Paul Harpenau and Mary Lou (Harpenau) Gergeni, Denis Schilmoeller, JoAnn (Harpenau) Ahlers, Richard Harpenau, and Clarence Harpenau.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 4, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen, with the Rev. Andy Galles officiating, the Rev. Timothy Pick, the Rev. Tim Johnson co-celebrating and Deacon Doug Heeren assisting. Burial will follow at the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Remsen. Visitation with family present will be 4-7 p.m., Friday, with a Catholic Order of Foresters rosary and vigil prayer service at 5 p.m., all at the church. Visitation will resume on Saturday at 9:30 a.m., at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.
Casket bearers will be Terry Harpenau, Kenny Ahlers, Steve Schilmoeller, Nick Galles, Jason Bohnenkamp, Steve Galles, Mike Ricke, and Tony Schroeder.
C.O.F. honorary bearers will be Jerry Braun, Don Konz, Mark Sudtelgte, Eric Harpenau, Mark Harpenau, and Al Harpenau.
