Le Mars boys fall by two to South Sioux City

SOUTH SIOUX CITY, Neb. — The Le Mars Community boys basketball team ended the regular season with a trip face South Sioux City. In a close game, the Bulldogs came up a bucket short in a 54-52 loss to the Cardinals.

Dylan Susemihl was the top scorer for the Bulldogs with 23 points. He made four 3-pointers in the contest. Along with his scoring, he was second on the team with six rebounds and tied with two others for second on the team with two steals.

Andrew Fifita had a double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds. He also led the team with five assists and had a pair of steals.

Ben Martin was the only other player on the team with multiple field goal makes, ending with six points.

Nolan Parmelee, Carter Baumgartner, Connor Jalas and Drew Galles chipped in a bucket apiece as they all finished with two points. Parmelee led the team with three steals.

Wanding Hosnyang added the team’s other point at the charity stripe.

Le Mars concludes the regular season with a 4-16 record. They will open Class 3A district play at rival Bishop Heelan (15-6) on Monday.

The two teams split their regular season meetings. Heelan won a 53-30 game in Le Mars in late December. The Bulldogs then went to Sioux City and upset the then-No. 6 ranked Crusaders by a 62-49 score on Jan. 24.
