Hinton boys bow out to Boyden-Hull
HINTON — The Hinton boys basketball team bowed out of the Class 2A district tournament with a 53-39 loss to Boyden-Hull on Monday.
Colt Frank led Hinton with 11 points. Next on the team was Caden Winters with six points as he made both shots he attempted from 3-point range.
Carson Peirce, Dylan Cobb, Karver DeGroot and Logan Kempema added four points apiece for the Blackhawks.
Hinton ended the game shooting 33 percent from the field, but made just 2-of-19 from 3-point range. The team also had a cold-shooting game at the charity stripe, making just 9-of-21.
Boyden-Hull shot for a similar overall percentage of 36.5 percent, but ended up making 7-of-22 from 3-point range. Five players drained a 3-pointer in the win.
Kason Woelber and Carter Kleinwolterink had two apiece as they ended with 10 and nine points, respectively. Kleinwolterink led the team with 12 rebounds. Brock Fisher was the leading scorer with 12 points. Nate Van Otterloo scored eight points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
Hinton has been eliminated by Boyden-Hull in two of the last three years. They lost a second round game by a 75-45 score at the end of the 2021 season.
The Comets (9-13) advanced to play Central Lyon (18-1) in Thursday’s district semifinal round.
The Blackhawks bid farewell to five seniors, Peirce, Cobb, Winters, Beau DeRocher and Carter Worden, as they finish with a record of 11-11.
