Kingsley-Pierson sweeps West Monona

ONAWA Kingsley-Pierson picked up a doubleheader sweep of West Monona in Western Valley Conference basketball action Friday.

The K-P girls won by a 63-45 score. The Panthers had three players score in double figures in the win. Sydney Doeschot scored a team-high 25 points and led the team with eight rebounds and two blocks. She also tied for the team lead with four steals with Avery Schroeder. Adding 20 points was Schroeder as she had a pair of 3-pointers. She added seven rebounds.

Makenna Bowman was the third in double figures with 13 points. She led the team with three assists and added five rebounds and three steals.

K-P gets back on the winning side of the series after losing both matchups last season.

The Panthers improved to 8-1 in conference games and 12-4 overall. West Monona fell to 9-5 overall and 5-3 in the league.

Boys complete sweep

The K-P boys rattled off their sixth consecutive win as they beat the Spartans 47-25.

Beau Goodwin was the leading scorer for the Panthers in the win with 16 points. He added a team-high five assists and the same number of rebounds.

Boston Doeschot joined him in double figures with 13 points. Evan Neumann added eight points and led the way with four steals. Conner Beelner chipped in six points. Derek Reinking rounded out the scoring with four points as he pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.

Landon Blatchford had the bulk of the points for the Spartans with 16 points. Micah Sorensen added six points and Laken Bellis and a 3-pointer to round out the scoring.

Kingsley-Pierson has won three straight in the series. The Panthers improved to 8-1 in the conference and 11-4 overall. The Spartans fell to 6-3 in conference play and 8-7 overall.
