Kingsley-Pierson sweeps River Valley in doubleheader

CORRECTIONVILLE ó Kingsley-Pierson picked up a pair of wins over Western Valley Conference foe River Valley on Tuesday.

The K-P girls won by a 50-33 final score. The Panthers jumped out to a 21-9 lead after a quarter while adding just small margins to their lead in each of the final three frames.

Sydney Doeschot finished with a double-double of 26 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Panthers. She had both of the teamís made 3-pointers, going 2-of-7 from distance. The rest of the team went 0-of-13 from 3-point range.

Addi Foster was next on the team with eight points. Avery Schreoder and Hannah Koch added six points apiece. Schroeder pitched in eight rebounds, five steals, four assists and a pair of blocks, leading the team in steals and assists.

River Valley was led by a 10 point performance from Jacy Jacobson. Maddie Thomas added eight points while tying for the team lead in rebounds with Myah Dausel as they each had seven boards. Dausel led the Wolverines with four assists and added six points.

The Panthers have won the last 20 meetings in the series. K-P improved to 11-4 overall and their conference record stood at 7-1 following the win. River Valley fell to 5-7 overall and they had a 3-5 conference record.

Fast start helps K-P boys

The Kingsley-Pierson boys jumped out to a 30-4 advantage at the end of the first quarter en route to a 69-35 victory over the Wolverines.

The Panthers shot just under 55 percent from the field in the win as they spread the ball around to nine different players who recorded points.

Evan Neumann led the way with 13 points. He was a perfect 3-of-3 on his 3-point attempts and finished 5-of-6 overall from the field.

Beau Goodwin ended 6-of-7 from the field as he added 12 points. Landon Howe also missed just one shot from the floor, going 4-of-5 in the game, as he finished with 12 points.

Conner Belener led the team with six assists and tied with Derek Reinking for most rebounds with six. Beelner scored seven points while Reinking added six, the same as Boston Doeschot.

The Panthers have won the last two meetings in the series. K-P improved to 10-4 overall and 7-1 in the conference. River Valley fell to 3-9 overall and 1-7 in the conference.
