Le Mars girls win two duals

SPENCER ó The Le Mars Community girls wrestling team won a pair of duals on Tuesday.

The team won a close 39-34 dual against Spencer. The Bulldogs won the lightest three weight classes. Hadassa Vasquez won by forfeit at 100 before Keira and Kylie Hessenius took the next two weights. Keira won her match by a 5-0 decision score over Kiara Ruiz. Kylie took down Katelyn Jones for a win by fall in 1:16.

Spencerís Kailee Spencer won by forfeit at 115. Le Mars bounced back for the next two classes. Bailey Brady won by an 8-2 score over Breanna Johnson at 120. Kirsten Tyler took the 125 bout by fall in 5:50 over Kyiah Logan.

Spencer won three in a row in the middle weights. At 130, Lily Sanchez pinned Sophie Bauman in 5:50. Shaylee Sutherland won by fall in 1:26 over Autumn Olsen in the next class. At 140, Laila Nielsen won a high-scoring 23-13 match over Mac Ciaffa for a major decision.

Le Mars answered with three wins in a row, two of which were forfeits for Kerene Panya at 145 and Desiree Breuer at 170. Between those was a 6-4 victory for Savanna Salen over Kiersten Campbell.

Spencer took the top two weights as Kaylee Nachtigal pinned Zoey Jeppesen in 28 seconds and Olivia Huckfelt pinned Riley Ernst in 52 seconds.

The Bulldogs won 60-24 over MOC-Floyd Valley. Half of the 14 weight classes were forfeit wins for the Bulldogs. They went uncontested in the lightest four weights along with 125, 135 and 145.

Brady won her match at 120 by fall in 1:06 over Belen Soto. Breuer pinned Addaly Miller in 2:41 at 170 and Ernst won by fall in 57 seconds over Brenda Valenzuela in the teamís other victories.

MOC-Floyd Valley picked up four wins by fall in the dual. Teresa Rodriguez topped Briar Hoppe at 130, Lyasa Vazquez pinned Ciaffa at 140, Hannah Baatz was victorious over Salen at 155 and Elvia Topete Anzua won the 190 bout over Jeppesen.

Le Mars improved to 6-2 in duals this season.
