Gehlen wins pair over Woodbury Central
MOVILLE ó Gehlen Catholic picked up a pair of non-conference basketball wins over Woodbury Central on Monday.
The Gehlen girls won by a 55-41 final score.
Miyah Whitehead led the Jays with 22 points with 14 of those coming in the second half. She added 18 rebounds for a double-double.
Joining her in double digits in scoring was Rysaiah Sitzmann with 12 points.
Jayden Barthole tallied seven points while Sophie Ruden and Kate Bonderson pitched in six apiece.
Nevaeh Hodgson rounded out the scoring with four points on a pair of second half baskets.
Woodbury Central was led by a 22 point performance from Kaylee Utesch.
Gehlen has won back-to-back meetings in the series.
The Jays improved to 5-9 with the win. Woodbury Central fell to 2-10 with the loss.
Boys dominate Wildcats
The Gehlen Catholic boys dominated Woodbury Central for a win by an 83-19 final score.
It is the teamís second game of the season scoring at least 80 points. They also did so in an 84-54 win over Akron-Westfield.
Keaten Bonderson led the Jays with 32 points which is his scoring high for the season. He also led the team with five steals.
Drake DeRocher added 10 points for the Jays as the teamís other double-digit scorer. The Jays had 12 different players score points in the win.
The win avenged a season-ending loss to the Wildcats by a 65-59 score in last yearís district semifinal round.
Gehlen improved to 11-2 with the win. Woodbury Central fell to 2-10 with the loss.
