Le Mars boys basketball falls to No. 7 Sioux City East

SIOUX CITY ó Le Mars led Class 4A No. 7 ranked Sioux City East by one after a quarter, but they could not maintain that advantage the rest of the game in a 60-46 loss in a Missouri River Activities Conference contest Friday.

Both teams shot 44 percent from the field and had five made 3-pointers, but the Bulldogs made three less 2-point field goals and didnít add anything at the charity stripe while East made 9-of-16 at the foul line which gave them the advantage for the win.

Connor Jalas was 5-of-7 from the field and led the Bulldogs with 10 points in the game. Teagen Kasel was next on the team with nine points from a trio of treys. Wanding Hosnyang was next with six points.

East had four players in double figures with Preston Dobbs leading the Black Raiders with 15 points. He also had the most rebounds on the team with nine. Fitzy Grant (13), Sam Jons (11) and Brandt VanDyke (10) were the other double digit scorers for East.

East has won the last three meetings in the series. The Black Raiders improved to 12-0 overall and 7-0 in the conference. Le Mars dropped their fifth game in a row as they are 2-5 at the midway point of their conference slate. They dropped to 2-8 overall on the season.
