Also receiving a check was the Christian Needs Center.

LE MARS — Three local organizations were awarded checks Dec. 30, as part of the Le Mars Area Chamber of Commerce and Main Street annual Shop for a Cause promotion.

Total raised this year was $1,945.

CAASA will receive $435, Wet Nose Animal Rescue $750 and Christian Needs Center $760.

“We appreciate all the help from the community,” said Le Mars Chamber and Main Street Director, Lori French.

Between Nov. 14 and Dec. 10, customers at local retailers were able to purchase a Shop for a Cause Card offering special discounts for $5 at any of the 23 participating businesses. As part of the program, customers could select one of three non-profits — Christian Needs Center, Wet Nose Rescue, or CAASA — in which their $5 donation would benefit.

French extended a thank you to the 23 participating businesses — 4 Brothers Bar & Grill, Bellissimo Coffeeworks, Bling-N-Fashions, Bob’s Drive Inn, Browns Century Theater & Gift Shoppe, Building Blocks Preschool and Childcare, Claussen’s, Cork It, Dairy Queen, Get Branded 360, History Worth Repeating, Hotopp Jewelry & Gifts, Lily Zita Boutique, Love’s Travel Stop, Piece of Cake, Pizza Hut, Pizza Ranch, Premier Communications, Royal 3 Cinema Theater, Shop Cary Boutique, SIMPATICO décor + gifts, Sugar-N-Spice, and the Wash House.

“We have such a great group of business owners working together and seeing the value in giving back to the community. They love making great things happen, and I appreciate them all so much,” French said.

The Main Street and Chamber Promotions Committee has done this holiday promotion for many years, and the community has always been very generous, French shared.

“I would also like to mention that this would not be possible without the support of our local banking institutions. They are always willing to support the Chamber, Main Street, and the growth of the community. We want to thank Iowa State Bank, American Bank, Midstates Bank, Primebank, Northwest Bank, and Northwest Credit Union for their contributions, and support with this promotion that brings people into Le Mars,” French said.
