MMCRU splits with Harris-Lake Park
LAKE PARK ó The MMCRU basketball teams traveled to play Harris-Lake Park in a War Eagle Conference doubleheader on Tuesday.
The MMCRU girls won by a final score of 53-41. Kora Alesch led the Royals and ended with a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds. She ended an assist shy of a triple-double and also led the team with five steals.
The Royals added two more in double digits. Isabelle Olson ended with 12 points and Kennedy Tentinger finished with 10 in the win.
Harris-Lake Park got over half of their points from Payton Reimers. She ended with 24 in the game and also led her team with five steals.
Allison Wallace added seven points and had a team-leading 10 rebounds.
MMCRU has won each of the last 10 meetings in the series. The Royals improved to 1-1 overall and 1-0 in the conference. H-LP fell to 0-4 overall and 0-1 in the conference.
The MMCRU boys fell 67-54 to the Wolves. A cold-shooting night from the perimeter didnít help the Royals as they finished 1-of-14 from 3-point range. Kyler Bork made the lone triple as he finished with 11 points and a team-high five steals.
Brayson Mulder came off the bench to lead the Royals with 14 points and nine rebounds. Michael Peterson also reached double figures with 12 points.
H-LP shot over 52 percent from the field and made 10 more free throws than the Royals on their way to the win. Caleb Hemphill led the Wolves with 23 points as he was 10-of-14 from the field.
Tyce Gunderson made 8-of-9 from the foul line while finishing with 14 points and Eli Robinson added 11 points as the third H-LP player in double figures.
It was a season-opening win for the Wolves while the Royals fell to 0-2 on the season. It was the first conference game for both sides.
