LE MARS — Gehlen Catholic School hosted its annual Veterans Day prayer service Friday morning with the presentation of the branches of service flags as veterans of those branches stood and were recognized, along with the reading of the names on the school’s Wall of Honor. Members of the American Legion Wasmer Post #241 posted the colors for the program. This year’s focus is on the Poppy and its meaning and significance in terms of Veterans Day. The program also highlighted the Poppy Posters the elementary students make each year. Sixth graders design the Poppy Posters and participate in the poppy poster contest hosted by the American Legion Auxiliary. The elementary students sang “We Honor You” during the program. The band also provided musical selections during the program.
