Le Mars volleyball swept by Sioux City North

SIOUX CITY The Le Mars Community volleyball team was swept by Sioux City North in a Missouri River Activities Conference match Tuesday. North won by set scores of 25-16, 25-16 and 25-15.

North hit .226 for the match as they used a balanced hitting attack. Ava Lloyd and Madalyn Welp each had nine kills while Sidney Chamberlain ended with eight kills. The Stars also cashed in on 13 ace serves, led by four from Stella Kuehl.

Lily Kirby and Lexi Hurd led the Le Mars attacking front with four kills apiece on a night in which the Bulldogs hit for a negative efficiency as a team. Holly McNaughton added two kills as did setter Payton Wright as she had 10 assists.

Karly Ellis picked up two ace serves for the Bulldogs in the match.

Defensively, Wright and Hurd led the team with three blocks apiece. Sarah Brown dug up 14 balls in the back row, double the next-best amount on the team from McNaughton.

North has won the last seven meetings in the series including their most recent meeting at the Le Mars tourney just three days prior.

Le Mars fell to 2-11 overall and 0-3 in the MRAC. North moved to 3-0 in the MRAC and 9-6 overall.
