Audrey and Glenn Van Roekel

Audrey and Glenn Van Roekel, formerly of Le Mars, will mark 60 years of marriage on Aug. 17. The two met at Northwestern Junior College in Orange City. After graduation, they parted ways, Glenn off to Hope College and Audrey off teaching. The romance rekindled one Christmas several years later and was followed by marriage on Aug. 17, 1962, at Central Reformed Church in Sioux Center.

After Glenn did a tour of duty with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and finished his medical training at the University of Iowa, the couple moved back to northwest Iowa where Glenn practiced radiology until he retired. While living in Le Mars, Audrey and Glenn were active in the community and in their church. In 2004, they moved to Coralville to be closer to family and so Glenn would be within spitting distance of Iowa Hawkeye sporting events.

Audrey and Glenn have four children, Daniel, Christina, David, and Rhonda, and four grandchildren.
