St. Mary’s Development office secured $42,259 in grant funds from Iowa’s Child Care Stabilization Grant in March 2022. “I am excited to announce that we have received another $28,173 which is the max amount for the second round. This brings our total to $70,432,” said Sarah Garvin, Director of School Advancement. The funds will continue to help support the everyday costs associated with the Little Hawks Preschool along with classroom improvements.

“I am grateful that we were able to find a way to replace the funding we used to receive annually from The Statewide Voluntary Preschool Program. The loss of support from the Remsen-Union School District is unfortunate,” added Garvin. “It was imperative that we find a replacement. My hope is that someday we are granted their support again, but until then, we will continue to find the means necessary to provide our families with a faith-based education, provide our community with service, and live by our school motto: To Act Justly, To Love Tenderly, and To Walk Humbly with our God (Micah 6:8).”
