K-P golfers compete at coed state meet

NEWTON Four Kingsley-Pierson golfers were part of the 1A state coed golf tournament held Tuesday at Westwood Golf Course in Newton.

The Panthers had two teams of golfers at the meet. Jordyn Sitzmann and Vincent Koelling made up one pair while Abby Thompson and Emerson Pratt made up the other pair.

Sitzmann and Koelling tied for the 10th lowest score of the day out of 42 pairs in the competition. They shot an 88 on the course.

The team of Thompson and Pratt finished with a 99 which tied for 30th.

Taking the first place title was the Dike-New Hartford duo of Jillian Beuter and Jacob Stockdale who teamed up for a 78 score.

The coed format of play features the girl team member teeing off from the even-numbered holes and the boy team member teeing off from the odd-numbered holes. The partners then alternate shots until completing the hole.

Each school may enter up to two pairs of golfers for the event.
