K-P wins games over West Monona

ONAWA The Kingsley-Pierson softball and baseball teams met Western Valley Conference foe West Monona on Wednesday.

The Panthers faced off against the Class 2A No. 5 ranked West Monona softball team and came away with the upset by a 7-2 final score.

K-P scored three in the second and one in the third. West Monona cut the deficit in half with two in the fourth, but the Panthers added some insurance late in the game while holding the Spartans scoreless the rest of the way to clinch the win.

Reagan Vos hit a home run in the win for the Panthers. It was part of a 2 RBI game where she also reached on a single and walk.

Makenna Bowman added another 2 RBI game as she had a single, double and walk in the contest.

Kenzie Beeson added the other multi-hit game with two singles as she drove in a run and Avery Schroeder had the other RBI for the team in the contest.

The team scored all of the runs against Carly Miller who struck out nine in the complete game loss. Of the seven runs, four were earned as she gave up nine hits, four walks and hit four batters.

Miller and Sierra Siebersma drove in the runs for the Spartans against Hannah Koch who tossed the complete game win. She gave up two runs, one of which was earned, on five hits and three walks. She struck out five.

The Panthers improved to 8-4 with the win, their fourth in a row. West Monona fell to 12-3 with the loss.

Baseball wins 18-0

The Kingsley-Pierson baseball team won their game against the Spartans by a final score of 18-0 in four innings.

The Panthers scored five in the first, one in the second, nine in the third and three in the fourth to finish the game early. The team had 14 hits and also reached on eight walks and three hit batters.

Beau Bubke led the team with a 5 RBI game. He was 3-for-3 at the plate with two doubles and a single. Conner Beelner added a 2 RBI game on a pair of base hits and Landon Howe came in off the bench to hit a double and drive in two runs. Four others recorded an RBI apiece.

The Panthers scored runs against three different pitchers as Chase Lander gave up five, Jesse Boynton allowed nine and Damian Orr was hit for four runs.

The Panthers had two pitchers combine on the shutout. Brandon Kron pitched the win as he gave up just one hit and struck out three in three innings. The lone hit was a single to Cole Halverson. Kevin Wright pitched an inning of scoreless relief to finish the game.

The Panthers improved to 10-3 with the win. West Monona fell to 3-5 with the loss.
