Le Mars baseball splits twin-bill with Heelan
LE MARS ó The Le Mars Community baseball team split their Missouri River Activities Conference doubleheader with Bishop Heelan on Tuesday.
The Le Mars win came by a 3-1 final score. Le Mars scored two in the first inning and both teams pushed across a run in the third as the lone runs of the game.
Brayden Dreckman, Trent Marienau and Evan Jalas picked up the RBIs for the Bulldogs in the game.
Ayden Hoag tossed a complete game with 10 strikeouts while giving up just four hits, all of which were singles. He also walked four.
Nathan Lawler took the loss for the Crusaders as he pitched the full six innings. He gave up the three earned runs on six hits, a walk and a hit batter while striking out four.
The other game was a 10-0 five inning contest which went in favor of Bishop Heelan. The Crusaders used one big inning, the third, to score all of their runs.
Ian Gill led the Crusaders with 3 RBI as he had a home run a double in the contest. Sean Schaefer finished with 2 RBI on his pair of singles while Carter Ritz drove in a pair while hitting a triple in the game.
Marienau and Kole Carpenter split time on the mound for the Bulldogs. Marienau ended with three strikeouts while Carpenter got two. Marienau took the loss with eight runs allowed, three of which were earned. Carpenter gave up two earned runs.
Jake McGowan pitched the complete game win for the Crusaders as he scattered seven hits in the five innings and struck out two.
Le Mars had a 5-10 overall record at the end of the night and a 5-8 mark in conference contests. Heelanís record stood at 10-7 after the two games as they moved to 6-6 in the MRAC.
