MMCRU High School shows off virtual Winter Concert performance

The MMCRU High School Winter Concert was held virtually on Thursday, December 17, 2020, under the direction of band teacher Emma Davis and choir teacher Andrew Wotherspoon.

The High School Choir performed “Feliz Navidad”, “Mary, Did You Know?”, and “Go and Tell It”, featuring soloists Jacob Johnson, Savannah Johnson, Ryan Olson, and Hope Russell.

High School Choir members are: Isabella Ahlers, Baily DeBoer, Caedyn Henrich, Jordyn Holsinger, Jacob Johnson, Savannah Johnson, Paige Krug, Aiyana Murray, Caitlin Olson, Ryan Olson, Elizabeth Pedersen, Andrea Penning, Audra Penning, Alissah Poppema, Emily Rains, Victoria Rojas, Hope Russell, Zachery Sanow, Jaxon Woodall, and Mykin Youde.

The High School Band performed “Christmas Spirit” arranged by John Edmondson, “Snow Day” by Len Orcino, and “And All the Bells Shall Ring” by Rob Romeyn.

High School Band members include: Flutes: Hannah Doellinger, Ellie Hilbrands, Makenzie Meyer, and Caitlin Olson. Clarinets: Leandra Klinker, Regan Peters, Ellie Reuter, Michelle Schmidt, and Abigayle VanMaanen. Saxophones: Mattisen Dias, Jaelyn Kabisch, and Elsie Hogg. Trumpets: Joshua Armfield and Hope Russell. Baritones and Tuba: Mason Peters, Brett Staab, and Tyler Frederes. Percussion: Jaidyn Ballard, Olivia Flewelling, Kaden Galles, Eban Hicks, Braeden Kamphoff, Caleb Kamphoff, and Ryan Olson.

Though a virtual performance this year, Davis stated, “I think our concert went very well. It was definitely a little strange performing for an empty gym, but I'm very proud of the students' work and flexibility during an unusual semester."

Wotherspoon added, "The pandemic has created specific challenges for everyone, choir included. I'm proud that our students have worked hard to overcome these challenges!”
