Le Mars boys golf ends season at district meet
SIOUX CITY — The competition was tough and the Le Mars Community boys golf team was without their top golfer as their season came to an end at the district fall golf meet held at Whispering Creek Golf Club on Monday.
Dylan Susemihl wasn’t in the Le Mars lineup which led the Bulldogs to drop below three of the Missouri River Activities Conference teams they had just beaten at the conference tournament at Green Valley.
Cameron Daggett, the other All-MRAC golfer for Le Mars, had the best finish for the team at the district meet with an 83 on splits of 42 and 41. He was four strokes back of an individual qualifying spot which went to the top two individuals, including ties, from those not on a qualifying team. Those spots went to Sam Vertenan of Ames, who shot a 76 as the overall runner-up score, and a pair of Dowling Catholic golfers, Jake Noonan and Luke McFarling, who each ended with 79s.
Johnston and Ankeny Centennial tied for the top spot in the team standings with a 320 score. Centennial’s Jonathan Saddoris was individual medalist with a 75 round.
Ethan Spier of Sioux City East was a stroke back of that as the MRAC champion Black Raiders edged out Dowling by two strokes for the final team spot with a 324.
