MMCRU boys third at Alta-Aurelia
ALTA — The MMCRU boys cross country team took third place at the Alta-Aurelia Cross Country Invitational held Monday.
The team scored 109 points which trailed only Manson-Northwest Webster (53) and Sioux Central (63) out of the 10 full squads in attendance.
“Every one of the varsity boys improved their time from last Monday at Sanborn, even in windy, wet conditions,” MMCRU Head Coach Lisa Spieler said. “We continue to get stronger as we approach the conference and district meets which are in a couple of weeks.”
The Royals had two in the top six of the 65 runner field with Kaden Galles posting a fourth place time of 18:14.29. Brett Staab was sixth in a time of 18:38.22. Galles was just two seconds behind a pair of Manson-Northwest Webster runners who took the second and third place spots. Lawton-Bronson’s Theo Moseman won the race in a time of 17:56.11.
Gunnar Grage was the next MMCRU runner with a 21st place time of 20:08.10. Preston Astidias was 28th, two places and 11 seconds behind Hinton’s only runner, Will Schindler, who finished in 20:34.53.
Mason Peters finished off MMCRU’s five runners with a 58th place time of 23:31.99.
Wyatt Alesch won the 3200 meter middle school boys race for the Royals with a time of 12:35.79.
