Remsen St. Mary’s volleyball sweeps through triangular

CORRECTIONVILLE — The Remsen St. Mary’s volleyball team won both matches of their triangular Thursday in 3-0 sweeps.

The Lady Hawks edged out close set wins against River Valley. The team won 25-22 in the first set before winning by the minimum two points 25-23 in the following sets. RSM has won nine of the last 10 meetings with the Wolverines with the only loss in that timeframe coming last season.

Brittany Johnson led the Hawks with 14 kills. Senior classmate Lexie Delperdang added nine kills.

Octavia Galles, Sydney Schroeder and Alyssa Schorg added three kills apiece.

The team had an easier time against West Harrison with a 25-13, 25-14 and 25-15 sweep.

RSM has won each of the last four meetings with the Hawkeyes.

Galles led the Hawks in this match with seven kills. Delperdang and Johnson were right behind with six and five kills, respectively. Ana Cononver knocked down four kills.

The Hawks also had success at the service line with 16 ace serves. Schroeder dropped in seven to lead the team while Delperdang had four.

RSM (2-0) will travel to play Gehlen Catholic on Tuesday.
