MMCRU baseball bows out

AKRON — The MMCRU baseball team bowed out of the Class 1A district tournament in the first round Saturday, July 11, losing to Trinity Christian by a 6-2 final score.

The Royals scored in the first and seventh innings, but Trinity plated runs in every frame in between. Carson Pick took the loss on the mound for the Royals with three unearned runs allowed in 3 2/3 innings. Cade Pepper gave up the final three runs in relief. Both pitchers struck out four batters.

MMCRU’s offense was held to just four hits, all singles, against Dawson Vis who got the complete game win while striking out five.

The Royals end the season with a 4-11 record. They are set to return most of their roster next year with Andrew Nicks being the lone senior on the team.
