No. 10 Lady Westerners trounce H-LP
AKRON ó Class 1A No. 10 Akron-Westfield scored 10 runs in the first inning and went on to a 12-0 win in three innings against winless Harris-Lake Park in War Eagle Conference action Monday.
Chloee Colt and Aubie Hartman each had a pair of hits in the contest while Megan Meinen and Autumn Bundy led the team with 2 RBI apiece. A total of 10 different players crossed home plate for the team in the win.
Meinen got the win in the circle as she allowed just one hit. She struck out one in the three inning complete game.
The A-W baseball team fell short of the Wolves in a 3-1 loss. Lucas Gunderson drove in two for the Wolves while Isaac Ihnen picked up the other RBI. Those two also combined on the mound to give up just one run while striking out nine.
The Westerners were able to reach base with five hits, four walks and three hit batters, but struggled to string those together into a rally. Laytin Koch reached base on two free passes and a single. Jack Terpstra scored the teamís lone run as he reached base twice on hit-by-pitches and another time on an error.
Jack Anderson took the loss as he gave up a pair of runs. The other run was charged to Sam Mullinix.
A-W dropped to 3-2 with the baseball loss while the softball team kept their perfect record intact at 4-0. The team will host Hinton in a conference baseball and softball doubleheader Wednesday.
