K-P boys beat Spartans for third time in WVC consolation
CORRECTIONVILLE — The Kingsley-Pierson boys basketball team ended the Western Valley Conference tournament with a consolation win over West Monona on Friday by a 70-59 score. It was the largest margin of victory in the three games against their league foe this season. The first meeting went to overtime with the Panthers winning 73-68 and the second meeting was a 49-47 win for K-P.
The Spartans led 16-10 after a quarter and still held a two-point advantage at the intermission, but the Panthers got things going in the second half and pulled away for the win.
Jackson Howe led the Panthers with 23 points as he was 8-of-11 from the field and made 3-of-5 shots from 3-point range.
Damon Bowman was the second of three in double digits for the team as he finished with 13 points and also knocked down three triples. Bowman was the team’s leader with seven rebounds.
Malakie Christophersen ended with 10 points as the final player in double figures. Matthew Christophersen and Emerson Pratt finished in the high single digits with eight points apiece. Matthew Christophersen added six rebounds, three steals and led the way with three blocked shots.
Kingsley-Pierson improved to 9-10 on the season with the win as they’ve now won the last 12 in the series with the Spartans. The Panthers return to action Tuesday at Elk Point-Jefferson for their penultimate game of the regular season.
