REMSEN ó Remsen St. Maryís senior Spencer Schorg needed 16 points to hit the 1,000 mark for his career entering Thursdayís non-conference game against Kingsley-Pierson. Schorg hit the nail exactly on the head as he finished with 16 points in a 61-23 win over the Panthers.

ďAny time you have a player hit 1,000 points itís amazing,Ē RSM co-Head Coach Scott Ruden said. ďHeís been a really good player. He played for us as a freshman but only had 44 points his freshman year. Heís really just stepped it up his sophomore, junior and now senior year. Heís such a good kid and hard worker. He loves basketball and loves the game so for him to get that mark, Iím happy.Ē

Schorg was the teamís leading scorer as he made 6-of-10 shots from the field including a pair of 3-pointers. His other two points came at the free-throw line. He was also the teamís leader with five assists and picked up the only block of the night for the Hawks.

Skyler Waldschmitt was the teamís only other player in double figures as he ended with 14 points on an efficient 6-of-8 shooting night from the field.

Bench players Carter Schorg and Wesley Smart came in to score seven points apiece.

The RSM defense locked down for their best performance of the season in holding the Panthers to just 23 points. It is the fewest points the Panthers have scored in a game dating back to the teamís 2018 postseason meeting with RSM which saw the team score the same number of points in a 49-23 loss.

The Panthers shot 25 percent from the field and missed all eight of their 3-point attempts. Nine of their points came at the free-throw line. Matthew Christophersen led the Panthers with nine points on 4-of-6 shooting. Damon Bowman added five points and Emerson Pratt finished with four points as the only other players with field goal makes for the team.
