Chamber seeks teams for holiday bowling event
LE MARS — The Le Mars Area Chamber of Commerce will once again hold its annual holiday bowling fundraiser.
This year’s event will be held from 3:30-6:45 p.m., Friday, Dec. 6, at Sweet 16 Lanes.
Sixteen teams of eight will go head to head in two games. Le Mars Main Street Manager Mary Reynolds said this year’s first game will be Bowling Bingo.
“People will get to mark off boxes on their card to get a bingo. Once they have a bingo they can enter the drawing for Chamber Bucks,” Reynolds explained. “In the second game — each first frame will have instructions of how to bowl, such as funny antics. The second frame is regular bowling. If they get a score of 75 or higher, they can enter the drawing for Chamber Bucks.”
The chamber bowling event replaced the Mystery Dinner Theater as a fundraiser.
“This event is fun and allows for networking with other people from different businesses and the funds support the chamber,” Reynolds stated.
Cost to participate is $50 per person. The fee includes two lines of bowling, bowling shoe rental and pizza.
Participants are encouraged to wear a Christmas hat. The most creative will win a prize.
“Usually we have people wear Christmas sweaters, which they still can, but this year we are focusing on holiday headwear. I’m anxious to see what people come up with,” Reynolds said.
Anyone who would like to take part is asked to contact the chamber at 546-8821.
“You don’t need to have eight people to participate. We’ll build teams with lots of different people. If you have one or two people, don’t hesitate to participate,” Reynolds said.
“I would like to encourage the people in the community to attend and support the chamber of commerce. We put on so many of the activities, festivals and events that occur in Le Mars, and this financial support continues to allow us to do these type of events and more.”
