Sesqui book author reception to be held

Monday, September 16, 2019

LE MARS — The Le Mars Public Library is hosting a reception for Dr. Steven Collins, Iris Hemmingson, Dr. Wayne Marty, Linda Mayrose, Mary Reynolds and Richard Ziettlow, the authors of the sesquicentennial history book: Le Mars, Iowa: A Pictorial History, 1869-2019.

The reception for the authors will be held from 6:30-7:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept 19. The program is free and open to the public.

The event will be an informal gathering to honor the authors who volunteered their time and talent to produce the pictorial book documenting the city’s history.

Shirley Taylor, library director, noted, “I have heard many positive comments about the sesquicentennial book and I want to make sure that the authors receive an official ‘Thank You!’ During the actual sesquicentennial celebration in June everyone was so busy it was difficult to schedule an event for the authors.”

Taylor went on to say, “I am so happy that all the authors will be available and can be recognized for their contribution to the historical record of Le Mars.”

After a brief welcome, there will be time for the public to ask questions and talk with each author. Individuals who purchased a book are invited to bring their copy to have it autographed by the authors.

The library has two copies of Le Mars, Iowa: A Pictorial History, 1869-2019 available to the public. One copy of the book can be checked out and taken home and one copy can be viewed in the library.
