Remsen mounts comeback to claim Ryder Cup traveling trophy

ALTON/REMSEN On Saturday, August 17 and Sunday, August 18, the second annual Ryder Cup competition was held at Remsen Golf Club and Sioux Golf and Country Club.

After Saturday in Alton, the Best Ball and Alternate formats ended with a lead by Sioux Golf of 13.5 to 6.5 by the eight two-man teams from each course.

The event was continued in Remsen on Sunday playing Best Shot and Singles Match Play formats. Down the stretch, Remsen came back ferociously for a total of 26.5 to Sioux Golf 23.5, winning the two-day tourney and will hold the traveling trophy until next year.

Both courses and their players would like to thank all the sponsors and anyone who helped put on the event. After the tournament was finished, there was an awards banquet and supper enjoyed by both teams.
