LCHS grad earns softball coaching honors in Arizona

BULLHEAD CITY, Ariz. ó A 1998 graduate of Le Mars Community High School recently added to her coaching accolades in Arizona. Shanda Weiler was named the Arizona Interscholastic Association 1A West Region Coach of the Year at the conclusion of the 2019 softball season.

It isnít the first honor for Weiler at the helm of the Mohave Accelerated Learning Center (MALC) team. She has also received the Charter Athletic Associationís Coach of the Year honors in 2011 and 2013 as part of a stretch where MALC went undefeated for three seasons in a row and collected three 2A Charter Athletic Association state titles.

Weiler has put together a 141-37 record in her 10 seasons as MALCís head softball coach. Prior to her time leading the Lady Patriots, she served stints as an assistant softball coach at Le Mars Community and River Valley in Iowa. The daughter of Loran and Doris Weiler of Le Mars played softball for the Lady Bulldogs before attending Wayne State College in Nebraska.
