Kirchoff to seek another term
LE MARS — Le Mars Mayor Dick Kirchoff has announced he plans to seek re-election in November.
He made the announcement at the end of Tuesday’s city council meeting.
“I’ve been working on this since March, and I’ve decided to run as mayor again,” he said.
He said he had visited with his family this past week and “they’re behind me 100 percent.”
“I’ve said this many times, we have a tremendous town in this city of Le Mars, and we’ve got tremendous opportunities coming down the road to make this city better yet,” he said.
He pointed out the destination program which has started.
“We really trying to kick off and get going on that,” he said.
“We’ve got opportunities on the economic development side, and I just want to be a part of it again,” Kirchoff said.
Kirchoff is serving his 12th year as mayor. He was elected to the position in November 2007 and began serving on Jan. 1, 2008.
The mayor position is for a two-year term.
