Repairs to Hwy 75 lanes in construction zone forces detour
PLYMOUTH CO. — The Iowa Department of Transportation has announced they will be closing Hwy 75 between Hinton and Sioux City beginning Aug. 12 to make repairs to the southbound lanes.
According to Dean Herbst, Sioux City resident construction engineer for Highway Administration, District 3, Sioux City, RCE Office, the closure is expected to take five nights.
“We will be making repairs to strengthen that section of roadway while the northbound lanes are under construction,” Herbst stated. “Anybody who drives that southbound lane can see the current condition it is in.”
The repairs will be made during the evening hours, with the highway being closed between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.
Northbound traffic will be detoured to County Road C-70 to County Road K-42 North and then to County Road C-60 and back to Hinton.
Southbound traffic at Hinton will go west on C-60 to County Road K-22 then south to County Road C-80 before hooking back up to Highway 75.
Herbst noted access will be maintained for residents along that stretch of Highway 75.
