HINTON — Hinton picked up a pair of run-rule wins over Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn in action Wednesday.

The Lady Blackhawks earned a 12-2 win in six innings against the Hawks as they knocked out 14 hits including six which went for extra bases.

“Offensively we continue to improve on pitch selection and making contact with the ball when and where we want to,” Hinton softball coach Jennifer Jacobs-List said. “Defensively we made too many mistakes tonight but we were able to rally back as a team and pick each other up. If we continue to work to improve we should continue to see positive results.”

Alyssa Fischer sent her only hit over the fence for her second home run of the season. She also walked as she ended with 2 RBI.

Jadyn Case had 2 RBI on her two hits which included a triple. Four Blackhawks had doubles in the contest. Aspen Coffee went 2-for-4 with a double and walk out of the leadoff spot in the game while Kayana Kunkel followed her in the order with a 3-for-3 game with an RBI.

Bella Badar had a double and 2 RBI as part of her three-hit night batting third in the order, one spot in front of Shelbie Young who had a double as her lone hit. The other double came off the bat of Sydney George who was a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate with a pair of walks.

Case earned the complete game win in the circle as she gave up a pair of runs on six hits and a walk. She fanned four Hawks in the game.

The Class 2A No. 9 Hinton baseball team got back to double digits in scoring after a three-game hiatus as they earned a 16-1 win over HMS in four innings. The mini drought for the team still saw at least five runs score in a trio of wins but the 16 runs scored is the team’s most in over two weeks when they brought home 18 against Harris-Lake Park.

Tate Kounkel had 4 RBI to propel him atop the War Eagle Conference leaderboard in runs driven in this season with 24. His game included a 3-for-4 showing at the plate as he scored once.

Aiden Brock also had a three-hit night as he scored four times and drove in a run. Braden Vonk had the other multi-hit game as he knocked out the only extra-base hit with a double and ended with 3 RBI.

A total of 10 different players recorded a hit and 11 different players scored a run for the team.

Vonk picked up the win on the mound as he went three innings without allowing a hit. He walked one and struck out eight. The lone HMS run was an unearned run charged to Kyle Brighton in an inning of relief as he struck out a pair.

The Hinton softball team is now 9-12 on the season. The baseball team moves to 19-1 this summer. Both Hinton teams travel to face Unity Christian on Friday.
