Royals ground Blackhawk girls
On February 1 the Royals’ opponents were the Hinton Blackhawks. Starting with the lead was MMCRU with the score at halftime being 35-12. The Blackhawks were unable to make a come back as the Royals pushed a substantial lead with the final score of 55-24, lady Royals with the win yet again. The Royals were able to improve on an astonishing record as they are now 15-4. The Royals outrebounded their opponent 20-26 and also made 20/57 field goals while the Blackhawks make 6/31. They also made 10/13 of their free throws.
The leading scorer for the Royals was freshman Ellie Hilbrands with a total of 13 points. Hilbrands also had five rebounds and made seven out of eight of her free throws. Taylor Harpenau, also a freshman, followed Hilbrands with a total of 11 points. Scoring eight points was Jaylen Bork. Emily Dreckman had seven total points.
Scoring for the Blackhawks was Bella Badar as she had a total of 15 points for the team. Also scoring was Aspen Coffee with six points and McKenna Weiland with three points. Weiland and Peyton George were the leading rebounders with three each. The Blackhawks had 20 total rebounds and made nine out of 15 free throws, all of which were made by Badar.
Senior Madison Treinen shared, “It was a lot of fun. We got the win but definitely could have played better. There’s always things that can be worked on and it’s good to find that out before regionals.”
Taylor Harpenau said, “We moved the ball well and played good.”
