MMCRU/RSM bowlers clipped by OA-BCIG

REMSEN ó The MMCRU/RSM bowling teams fell just short of OA-BCIG in action on Thursday, January 24. The girls finished just 15 points back of the Falcons in a 2,152-2,137 match that went down to the wire.

MMCRU/RSM held a slim six point advantage after the first round of the individual games. Megan Wurth had the top series score of the day with a 323. Her first game of 178 was also the best for the team. Bailey Penning was the teamís other bowler to surpass 300 with a balanced set of 153 and 149 games reaching a 302 total.

Hailey Klein rolled a 279 series while Mattie Dias ended 10 points behind that. Sidney Tritz had the final counting score of 260.

The team built up a slim lead after outscoring the Falcons by 15 in the first Baker game. The teams posted identical scores in the second game to maintain the status quo. The third game is where the Falcons jumped in front with the top Baker game by either side with a 183 compared to a 127 for MMCRU/RSM. The team did their best comeback attempt in the final game outscoring the Falcons 163-140, but the team ended 21 points behind for the Baker games resulting in the final difference of 15.

The win avenges a similarly close loss by 30 for the Falcons against MMCRU/RSM on Dec. 14.

The MMCRU/RSM boys trailed by just 25 after the first round, but the Baker rotation games allowed the Falcons to build on their lead for what was a 163 point win by a final score of 2,849-2,686.

Ethan Riedemann had the best individual score of the meet with a 406, two points better than Jarrett Bumann, the leader for the Falcons. Riedemann began the day with the best individual game by any player with a 233 and followed with a 173.

The final four counting scores for the team were all fairly close with a difference of just 19 between the second and fifth place scores. Nathan Reusch was at the top of that list with a 356 on a top game of 185. Drew Pierce ended three points behind that with a top game of 202.

Mitch Rhodes tallied a 343 score while Seth Nelson used a 210 in his second game to boost his series score to a 337.

The Falcons had better scores in all five Baker games with their top score being a 225. MMCRU/RSM posted a top score of 194 out of their five games.
