MMCRU/RSM bowling tops Sioux Central/Spencer
SIOUX RAPIDS ó The MMCRU/RSM bowling teams came away with a pair of wins on Thursday, January 31, over Sioux Central/Spencer. The wins are the first for both teams since Jan. 10.
The MMCRU/RSM girls opened up a 125 point advantage at the end of the individual games and more than doubled the margin by the end of the match in a 2,042-1,744 win.
Sioux Central/Spencerís Trey Haag had the best score of the day by one point over Megan Wurth of MMCRU/RSM with a 330. Wurth overcame a 105 game to start as she rolled a 224 in her second set of frames. All but one of the teamís bowlers had a better second game than their first.
Hailey Klein ended with a 293 series with a top game of 152 as she was second on the team. Blacey Stodden was the only team member to post a better score in her first game as she started with a 162 and finished the day with a 280 series.
Bailey Penning added a 265 series and Mattie Dias turned in the final counting score of 208 for the team.
MMCRU/RSM outscored their opponent in all five Baker rotation games with a 667-494 edge in that round on the day.
The boys match was even closer with MMCRU/RSM winning by 138 in a 2,271-2,133 final score. MMCRU/RSM held a 98 point lead after the first round of individual games. Drew Pierce topped all bowlers with a 390 series, seven better than opponent James Lewis who had the best game score of either team with a 210. Pierce rolled both games in the 190s with a top game a point shy of 200.
Ethan Reidemann was the only other player to surpass 300 as he finished with a 332 series. He scored a 176 in his first and best game.
The teamís remaining four scores were all within three points of each other. Mitch Rhodes bowled a 262 series with Nathanael Reusch and Austin Schwickerath right behind at 260. Seth Nelson posted a 259 which did not count toward the team score.
Sioux Central/Spencer made up 52 points in the first Baker game, but MMCRU/RSM won the final four to pull away for the win.
MMCRU/RSM returns to action on Monday, February 4, at Sweet 16 Lanes in Le Mars.
