Shooting the difference in Royals’ victory
The MMCRU Royals boys’ basketball team had an outstanding victory of 64-40 against the Clay Central-Everly Mavericks.
The boys’ basketball team traveled to Everly to compete against the Clay Central-Everly Mavericks. The Royals ended the first quarter with a small lead of 17-13, a lead that they would hold out for the next quarter as the Royals went into halftime with a lead of 39-20.
After the half, the Royals came out strong once again, smashing through the Mavericks’ defenses, leading after three by a score of 56-32. CCE came back strong during the final quarter, putting the Royals’ defense to the test. The Royals, however, managed to hold them back with a final score of 64- 40.
Senior Joel Johnson led the Royals with 25 of the game’s total points made. Following behind Johnson with 13 points was sophomore starter, Cade Pepper. Johnson also led the Royals in three-pointers made, scoring seven of his eleven shots attempted. He also led his team with the most assists in the game.
