MMCRU Middle School spreads holiday spirit at concert
The MMCRU Middle School students (grades fifth through eighth) spread holiday cheer to all those who attended their Holiday Concert, which took place at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at the Middle School Gym in Remsen.
The fifth grade band started the night off with their song “Good King Wenceslas”.
The fifth grade band consists of the following members: flute, Eoin Hogg; clarinets, Lana Jungers and Katie Merryfield; alto saxophones, Brayden Dunn and Dylan Stevens; trumpets, Mason Carver, Waylen Hengtgen, John Schmillen, and Hunter Staab; trombones, Joshua Doellinger, Olivia Jochims, and Michael Schmillen; baritone, Destiny Gunsolly; and percussion, Cayben Olson and Max Schnepf.
The sixth grade band took the stage after the fifth grade band to play their two pieces, “Winter Medley” and “Not So Silent Night”.
Sixth grade band members are: flutes, Allison Astidias, Ashley Hurtado, Rylee Neddermeyer, and Caitlin Wetter; clarinets, Ellie Durkee, Tayden Hicks, Deanna Partridge, and Cassandra Weiler; alto saxophones, Elspeth Hogg, Brody Jackson, Jairo Rojas, and Autumn Sanow; trumpets, Jace Colling, Bryce Grzeslo, and Evan Molzen; trombones, Alexander Armfield and Jaxon Theisen; baritones, Michael Peterson and Grant Prescott; tuba, Max Pepper; and percussion, Haydn Aduddell, James Carista, Oliva Flewelling, and Carver Miller.
The fifth and sixth grade choir performed next with their four song selections, “Dream a Dream”, Dashing Through the Snow”, “Light a Candle”, which featured soloists Caitlin Wetter and Ashley Hurtado, and “Holiday Favorites”.

The Junior High Band followed up with two songs, which included “Dance of the Snowmen” and Angels We Have Heard on High”.
Members of the junior high band consist of: flute, Hannah Doellinger; clarinets, Avery Schlender and Michlle Schmidt; alto/baritone saxophone, Jessica Bush; trumpets, Joshua Armfield and Johnathan Thelen; baritone, Mason Peters; and percussion, Jaidyn Ballard, Kaden Galles, Caleb Kamphoff, Olivia Ney, Mitchell Schnepf, and Owen Schroeder.
The seventh and eighth grade choir performed their four selections, “Lunar Lullaby”, “Believe, from Polar Express”, “Someday at Christmas”, which featured soloists Mykin Youde and Baily Sargent, and finally “Jingle All the Way Medley”.
The seventh and eighth grade choir members are the following: sopranos, Isabella Ahlers, Hannah Doellinger, Kierra Gengler, Amber Kliever, Leandra Klinker, Brenna Lennon, Emma Mahoney, Tattianna Merino, Carly Mohning, Paris Mulder, Hannah Neddermeyer, Andrea Penning, Miranda Ross, Baily Sargent, Mariah Thomsen, Emma Vasher, and Mykin Youde; altos, Luci Haaven, Jordyn Holsinger, Kysa Jochims, Adyson Johnson, Allison Partridge, Taytem Pederson, Elizabeth Pederson, Natalie Plagman, Amaiah Poppema, and Katelynn Reiter; men, JT Berner, Kyler Bork, Noah Galles, Jacob Johnson, Max Paradise, and Jaxon Woodall.
The concert ended with a combined band and choir piece “Songs of Christmas Cheer”. The audience was also invited to participate and sing along.
The middle school instrumental assembles were directed by Mr. David Moore.
The middle school choirs were conducted by Ms. Lori Looyenga.
